Job Description:

Job Summary -

Direct and provide strategic controls implementation guidance to LCCB Manufacturing and Warehouse departments.  Establish best Engineering Controls practices and processes that ensure optimal machine performance and overall line efficiency and productivity improvements.  Assure controls programming practices are consistent from location to location. Supervise the identification, evaluation and selective implementation of control solutions. Lead the Company wide effort to explore, define, and implement new control practices and control processes within all areas related to automated Manufacturing and Warehousing Systems.

Responsibilities -

 

  • Serve as both a technical expert and a leader within the Company.  Lead by influence and expertise.
  • Develop high level control strategies for all automated equipment in our Warehouse and Manufacturing Facilities. 
  • Develop a control strategy for automated warehouse picking systems to include package sorting, release, delivery, palletization and stretchwrap.
  • Develop a control strategy for automated production facility machinery to include all PLC driven equipment.
  • Assist with design and development of control systems for new equipment and systems.
  • Serve as the Company Controls expert and power user; provide guidance to the Director of Engineering, the Senior Director of Manufacturing, Plant Managers, and Vertique Systems Managers.
  • Establish an overarching Controls philosophy and logic for all equipment systems within the Company.  Establish coding rules and controls procedures for specific types of manufacturing cells and document these practices. Ensure standardization.
  • Trouble shoot, test, and repair control systems.
  • Assist and provide control logic guidance and training to plant Maintenance Managers.
  • Supervise (dotted line), educate, and train plant level control engineers.
  • Maintain expertise within the Controls Engineer field; stay abreast of new technology, emerging software code, and new equipment.

  • High degree of professionalismThorough knowledge of and a high skill level programming of motion systems, PLC's, and associated Controls systems. Knowledge and familiarity with Allen Bradley and RS View a plus.
  • Ability to understand and properly influence decisions of senior management.
  • Ability to influence decision making of peers.
  • 5 years of experience in a Controls Engineering role in a manufacturing environment. Continuous flow conveyor style systems a plus.
  • Knowledge of controls systems development methodology.
  • Detailed and structured thought process.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with all levels in the organization.
  • Presentation skills. Negotiation skills. Facilitating skills.
  • Advanced PLC programming skills.
  • Leads by accomplishment and example.

  • RSLogix5000 proficiency
  • or more years’ experience automated case picking/warehousing 
  • 5 or more years’ experience in the Soft drink industry
  • Mixed case palletizing and robotics Root cause analysis experience
